Being multitalented and due to her broad background, Janica also directs projects in which film, music and dance are combined, with a specific interest in opera direction, because within this medium she can bring her different talents and visions together.

Romance with double bass (script, direction, montage, production, leading role)

Performance in which classical and contemporary music is intertwined with a film in a theatrical way. Inspired by a text by Anton Chekhov, it tells the unusual love story of a double bass player and a princess. The music accompanying the film is performed live on stage and includes compositions by Rachmaninov, Glinka, Tsjaikovsky, Gubaidulina, Kagel, Piazzolla. Developed in collaboration with double bass player Quirijn van Regteren Altena.

It premiered in 2009 at the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ in Amsterdam and was shown at the Dutch Film Festival in Utrecht.

La Terra e la Morte / Death and the earth (concept, choreography, direction, camera)

A work-in-progress presentation with dance, video and live music based on a series of poems and for which the choreography was developed in collaboration with Albert Jan van der Stel, using the computer program Life Forms.

Venus & Adonis (concept, direction, vocal and dance part)

Small multimedia opera after John Blow, with film, live music and dance, in which the performers feature in the film as well as on stage.

Presented at the Springdance Festival 1996 in Utrecht and supported by the Nederlands Fonds voor de Podiumkunsten.
